Rustic Resin Pathway Solution to Existing Degrading Surface Near Nutley

This Tudor-Style Manor is an early-20th-century garden incorporating terraces, water gardens and glades. It was laid out in 1905 as a series of garden rooms by the landscape architect/ garden designer Thomas Hayton Mawson as the setting for a Tudor-style mansion by architect Andrew Noble Prentice.

The Manor is situated in an elevated, rural position on the south-west edge of the Ashdown Forest in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The site is around 150 metres above sea level with views south and south-west to the surrounding woodland, the Sussex Weald and South Downs beyond.

The owner of this beautiful manor contacted True Grip as a recommendation from her friend who we installed a similar job for upgrading the failing surfaces on her woodland paths. The brief was not to dig down to far. This was so none of the established plants, bushes and 200-year-old Red Wood trees would have their roots damaged. Terrabase Rustic was the obvious choice due to its layered reinforcement and no dig properties.

We used an excavator to carefully scrape back the existing surface 35mm to receive the resin finish. Where we didn’t have any York stone edges to lay to, we agreed with our client that we could use some excess cobbles and slabs the client had stored on site from previous works. We had to be careful of the robotic lawn mowers cabling whilst digging and where they crossed the path this had to be at the correct level so as not to foul the mowers.

The team stepped up to the challenge and completed the job on time.
