Suds Compliant, Sub-base, Macadam and Resin Drive Sevenoaks.

We were contacted by this client through our website, and he was very specific about the drive being fully suds compliant as it was part of their planning approval.

Once colours and quotes had been accepted and the client’s builders had installed the edges and porous sub-base, we set about installing a porous limestone capping layer to regulate and smooth out any undulations in the sub-base. This means when the porous macadam is installed it will be to a high tolerance.

Due to the time of year being mid-October, we installed the macadam without a problem, however the heavens opened up for a full week leaving us with an install date of the 31^st of October, this being potentially the first dry day. With good communication with the client, it was decided this would not work as that being Halloween, and the chances of the drive being damaged while curing, were too high a risk. Then it rained again for a week and then it turned bitterly cold so we couldn’t install the resin. After discussing the resin installation with the client and the fact that Christmas was getting ever closer we all decided to put the resin element off till the New Year. The client had a clean macadam base which they and their family could use to park their cars on.

Guided by the client and ourselves regarding the weather in the New Year, the resin was installed towards the end of January, when the correct day presented itself. Our client was very patient with the whole installation and fully understood why and when we could or couldn’t install the resin and was also very happy we hadn’t pushed to get the work finished and paid. Our ethos in all our work is of course to finish on time, yet as in this case it is very important to finish a job in the correct manner and know it will last for many years to come.

True Grip laid 106m2 of 70mm thick, porous macadam. And 18mm thick, Addagrip Stonebound 6mm Castle Grey.
